This week marks an exciting milestone in The Music In It’s
blog journey – the 100th prompt! Accordingly, the prompt for this week deals with the number
100.
1. Write a one hundred word poem – yep, a poem that contains exactly
100 words (no more, no less).
2. Write a poem in which you use the number 100 in the title, text, or both.
3. Write a poem in which you use the words a hundred or one hundred.
4. Write a poem in which you use the word century.
5. Write a poem with this title: “100 ways to _____________”
(you fill in the blank).
6. Write a poem that begins “One hundred years ago…”
7. Write a poem that describes life one hundred years from now.
Examples:
One Hundred
ReplyDeleteOne hundred
One
Zero
One
Zeroes are like eggs
The energetic shape we are encased in
We are the one
The life force inside an egg
Thanks for posting, Risa! It'a always nice to "see" you here!
DeleteAn interesting poem, Risa! Economy of language with a twist at the end to think about. Thanks for sharing!

Legions
ReplyDeleteAt 12:18 in the smoggy afternoon air
Eating lunch in my car parked
In an abandoned parking lot
I suddenly realize:
This is the rest of my life.
Maybe in a different parking lot
On another day
With another dirty windshield sky
I will again forget
I am no one in particular,
Again dream of great honors
Awarded me for great things
I could never really do,
Not even in a hundred years.
I am out of the running.
My children are growing up poor
Without me
While I give little that matters to the world,
Working into the night,
Earning money
Which is not and never will be mine.
I am legions.
Thank you, Russ, for sharing another of your wonderful poems.

Hi Russ! Thanks for sharing your poem! An interesting nod to 100!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Adele, on your 100th prompt! I love the way you make the prompts appropriate to special days and "events."
ReplyDeleteJamie
Thanks, Jamie! I really enjoy writing the prompts, and I'm so glad to know that you enjoy reading and working with them!
DeleteAdele, wow!
ReplyDeleteIn Italian we say " cento di questi giorni" ( One hundred of these days, long live!) for birthdays,
So, "cento di questi giorni" for your blog.
Ciao
Ales
Thank you, Ales! Italian is such a beautiful, musical language - I spent a month in Italy once and loved hearing it spoken. It's lovely to see it here. Your kind thoughts and support are much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adele.
DeleteDid you ever write a prompt about the poetry translation?
I 'd like to know what you think about.
Ciao, Ales
I've never worked much with translation, but I'll give the idea of a translation prompt some thought! Thanks, Ales! If you have any ideas, please let me know!
DeleteExactly 100 words is difficult!

Hi Tania,
DeleteYes, 100 words is a challenge, but, in the end, if your poem is more or less, it's the poem that matters and not the number of words.
I posted a poem here a month ago somehow it didn't get to be posted ??????????????????
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Randy! I didn't receive a notice that your comment (poem) was pending approval. Something glitchy with Blogger, perhaps. Again, my apologies.
DeleteNot that it matters now, I believe if you look closely I satisfied all 7 possibilities from your requirements!
